About
Hello. My name is Edwin Steussy, and I run Apogee Communications.
Apogee handles localization issues for the interactive electronic entertainment industry—which is to say, we work on videogames. I’ve personally been working in translations since 1988, when I started my first Chinese to English translation agency in Taiwan. We’ve been translating videogames since 1996. Apogee Communications was formed in 2003 to be the business entity for all of our work.
Apogee Communications has more than 350 translators, living in over 50 countries around the world. We hire young, talented language specialists with a background playing videogames. Almost exclusively, they live and work in the country of their native language. This keeps their language fresh, and their knowledge of idioms and slang up-to-date. While we occasionally work with other agencies, we much prefer to work with individual translators, banding them together into ad hoc languages teams of translators and proofreaders. In my long experience, this has been the most reliable way to create high quality translations.
Apogee Communications also has a stable of talented graphic artists, working on both Mac and PC platforms with the latest Adobe software. We’re able to create original artwork for your products, or layout a stunning package set. We can also do full user manuals, and update them into multiple languages with high quality results.
This is our company blog. While there will be any number of official announcements posted here, there will also be commentary on the state of the translation industry, videogames, the general economy and anything else that I happen to feel like talking about. I’ve done blogs before and I know that, no matter what you originally plan on doing with it, the blog will have an organic life of its own, depending on the readership and comments that it encourages.
Welcome to the Apogee Communications blog.
